Finn Russell marks first year as Spiritfilled ambassador

It looks like Finn Russell’s been making waves off the pitch as well as on it – the Scotland fly-half just wrapped up his first year as brand ambassador for Spiritfilled, that Fife-based cask dealership and independent bottler we’ve been hearing more about lately.

They threw quite the do at the Caledonian Club in London, with over 70 guests getting the inside track on Russell’s whisky journey. Pretty timely, considering he’s just helped Bath claim their first Premiership title and is about to head off with the Lions to Australia.

What’s interesting is hearing Russell talk about cask investment as a “much more modern method” compared to traditional routes like property or stocks. He’s clearly thinking beyond his playing days – owns a few casks himself, plus some for his daughters, which is a nice touch. The man’s diversifying his portfolio while he’s still at the top of his game.

Spiritfilled’s really leaning into the experiential side of things at their Braeside Bond in Newburgh. Russell was pretty enthusiastic about how they’re not just storing casks but offering the full package – fishing, shooting, the works. That hands-on approach where punters can actually touch, smell, and taste their whisky is smart marketing for the cask investment crowd.

They’re bottling under the Mythical Beasts label too, and from what CEO Russell Spratley was saying, they’re pulling in investors from around the world. Sounds like they’re carving out a decent niche in what’s become quite a crowded cask investment market.

The evening wrapped up with tastings and someone walking away with a signed Lions jersey – not a bad night’s work, really.
