Scottish whisky start-up celebrates 900% growth

Right, here’s something that’s caught my attention – Edinburgh-based Tailored Spirits Co. is having quite the moment. These folks just posted a staggering 900% year-on-year revenue growth in Q1 2025, which frankly makes them one to watch in our corner of the industry.

What’s interesting about their approach is the focus on privately owned whisky – they’re positioning themselves as that crucial bridge between commercial-scale distilling and individual cask ownership. You know how tricky that space can be for newcomers, but they seem to have cracked it with their “from the warehouse to your house” model.

The numbers tell a compelling story. They won £100k at Scottish Edge in 2024, and they’ve parlayed that into global reach across 14 countries – we’re talking UK, Ireland, Europe, South Africa, Asia, and the USA. Their client base runs the gamut from private cask owners to whisky societies and even global corporations, which speaks to the versatility of what they’re offering.

Now, here’s what got me excited – they’ve just launched “The Experimental Series,” their first proprietary bottlings. Three micro-batch releases that are genuinely pushing boundaries: a Croftengea Loch Lomond 7-year-old (52 bottles, £59.50), a Fettercairn 13-year-old (84 bottles, £74.50), and an Ardmore 8-year-old (60 bottles, £64.50). These aren’t massive releases, but that’s clearly intentional.

The founding trio – Tom Costello (Brand & Creative), Carl Johnstone (Commercial & Operations), and Adam Harding (Spirits, Sales & Strategy) – seem to genuinely understand the romance of whisky ownership while maintaining commercial acumen. Harding’s comment about wanting to “bring Scotch whisky to the world and bring those new whisky lovers back to Scotland” particularly resonates.

What strikes me is how they’re democratizing access to industry-level expertise for individual enthusiasts – that’s a gap that’s long needed filling in our industry.
