About Isle of Barra Distillers
Isle of Barra Distillers is a family-owned spirits company based in Castlebay on the Isle of Barra, founded in 2017 by Michael and Katie Morrison. Known for its award-winning Barra Atlantic Gin, infused with local carrageen seaweed, the company also produces vodka, rum, and gin liqueurs. A new £12 million distillery is under construction, set to open in 2026, bringing whisky production and tourism to the island. Operating as a Community Benefit Society, profits support local development. Rooted in heritage and focused on sustainability, the distillery blends tradition with innovation to support the future of the island.
