Isle of Harris Distillery marks festival season with exclusive single cask release

Here’s something that’ll pique your interest – Isle of Harris Distillery has just dropped an exclusive single cask bottling of The Hearach, and it’s only available through Royal Mile Whiskies. We’re talking proper limited stuff here – just 225 bottles hitting the shelves on August 15th.

What makes this one special is the collaboration itself. Royal Mile Whiskies’ team hand-picked this cask working directly with the distillery, and you know their palate is spot on. It’s a first fill bourbon barrel that’s been bottled at a punchy 57.4% ABV – no messing about with dilution here.

Blender Shona Macleod’s tasting notes sound absolutely cracking – she’s picking up crème brûlée and deep caramels on the nose, shifting into dried citrus peel and barley sugar territory, with florals that settle into gentle lavender. The palate brings warm spicing reminiscent of traditional puddings and ginger cake, leading to a long, creamy finish with liquorice touches and that signature Hebridean peat smoke lingering at the end.

The timing couldn’t be better, really – launching right in the thick of Edinburgh Festival season when the city’s buzzing with visitors. You can grab a bottle at their Old Town flagship or order online internationally. They’re also putting some bottles into select bars through their trade business, so you might catch it by the dram around Edinburgh and beyond.

At £94.95, it’s positioned as a premium offering, but for a cask strength, distillery-selected single cask from Harris, that’s fairly reasonable territory. The fact that it’s distilled, matured, and bottled on Harris adds to the authenticity – no trucking spirit around for finishing elsewhere.

If you’re keen, they’ve set up a notification system at www.rmwlink.co/Harris to ping you when it goes live.
